What is NephroAssist?
NephroAssist is an AI platform built for nephrology practices, offering purpose-built modules for patient engagement, clinical decision support, and intelligent fax processing. We combine 15+ years of nephrology experience with modern AI technology to help kidney care practices operate more efficiently.
Who is NephroAssist designed for?
NephroAssist is built exclusively for nephrology practices—including nephrologists, dialysis centers, and kidney care clinics. Our tools understand CKD staging, dialysis modalities, KDIGO guidelines, and nephrology-specific workflows.
What makes NephroAssist different from generic healthcare tools?
Generic healthcare AI doesn't understand the difference between HD and PD, or know KDIGO guidelines from OSHA requirements. Our tools are trained specifically on nephrology content, workflows, and terminology—so they actually understand your practice.
Is NephroAssist a software product or a service?
NephroAssist is a SaaS platform with four AI-powered modules: PatientAssist (patient engagement chatbot), StaffAssist (clinical decision support), FaxAssist (intelligent fax processing), and VoiceAssist (voicemail transcription and routing). You can use individual modules or the complete platform.

What is Patient Assist?
Patient Assist is a 24/7 AI chatbot that embeds on your practice website. It answers common patient questions about locations, hours, insurance accepted, provider information, and appointment preparation—so your phones can stop ringing with routine inquiries.
What is Staff Assist?
Staff Assist is an AI knowledge assistant for your practice team. It has four modules—Clinical (KDIGO guidelines, drug dosing), Operations (OSHA, HIPAA), Billing (CPT codes, CMS rules), and Education (patient handouts). Staff get instant answers instead of digging through binders.
What is FaxAssist?
FaxAssist automates fax processing for referrals, lab results, medical records, and other documents. When a fax arrives, AI reads the document using OCR, extracts patient data (name, DOB, diagnosis, insurance, referring provider), and presents it for staff verification. What took 10 minutes of manual data entry now takes 2 minutes of verification.
How long does it take to set up the AI tools?
Patient Assist can be live on your website in about 30 minutes—upload your practice info, customize the look, and embed one line of code. Staff Assist and FaxAssist typically take 1-2 weeks for full onboarding, including content upload and staff training.
Can I customize the AI tools for my practice?
Yes. Patient Assist can be branded with your colors, logo, and even a custom assistant name. Staff Assist can be loaded with your specific SOPs, payer contracts, and policies. FaxAssist can be configured for your specific intake workflow.
What is VoiceAssist?
VoiceAssist automates voicemail processing for your practice. When a voicemail arrives, AI transcribes the message, detects urgency, extracts callback information, and routes it to the right department or staff member. Critical messages are flagged so they don't sit in a queue. What took 30 minutes of listening and note-taking now takes 3 minutes of review and response.
What is Bowman?
Bowman is the name of our AI engine—named after Bowman's capsule in the kidney. Just as the capsule filters blood, Bowman filters through guidelines, protocols, and practice knowledge to surface exactly what you need.

HIPAA & Security

Is NephroAssist HIPAA compliant?
Yes. FaxAssist and VoiceAssist (which handle PHI) run on AWS HIPAA-eligible infrastructure with Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) in place. PatientAssist and StaffAssist are designed to be non-PHI by default—they don't collect or store patient health information.
Does Patient Assist handle protected health information (PHI)?
No. Patient Assist is designed to answer general practice questions (locations, hours, insurance, provider info) without collecting any PHI. Conversations are not linked to patient records, and no clinical advice is provided.
Does Staff Assist handle PHI?
No. Staff Assist contains practice policies, clinical guidelines, and educational content—not individual patient data. Access is restricted to authenticated practice staff with audit logging of all queries.
How does FaxAssist protect patient data?
FaxAssist processes PHI on HIPAA-eligible AWS infrastructure. Data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Human verification is required before any data enters your practice systems, and comprehensive audit trails track all document processing.
Do you provide Business Associate Agreements (BAAs)?
Yes. We provide BAAs to all covered entity clients. Our BAA defines our responsibilities, permitted uses of PHI, security obligations, breach notification procedures, and termination provisions. Contact compliance@nephroassist.com to request a BAA.
Where is my data stored?
All data is stored on AWS HIPAA-eligible infrastructure in the United States. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit, hosted in SOC 2 Type II certified AWS data centers providing physical security.

Pricing & Plans

How much does NephroAssist cost?
NephroAssist offers flexible pricing based on which modules you need and the size of your practice. Contact us for a personalized quote—we'll put together a plan that fits your practice and budget.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. All plans include a 14-day free trial with full access to your chosen plan. No credit card is required to start. If you decide not to continue, your account simply pauses.
Is there a contract or can I cancel anytime?
All standard plans are month-to-month with no long-term commitment. You can cancel anytime. Enterprise+ customers typically sign annual agreements for volume pricing.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes. Upgrade anytime and get immediate access to new features. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.
What counts as a "location"?
A location is a physical office where patients are seen. If you have 5 clinic addresses, that's 5 locations. Satellite offices and telehealth-only services don't count against your limit.
Do you offer discounts for annual billing?
Yes. Annual billing saves you 15% compared to monthly. Contact us for details.

Implementation & Support

How do I embed Patient Assist on my website?
Patient Assist is added to your website with a single line of code—similar to adding Google Analytics. It works with any website platform including WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, and custom sites. Our team can help with installation if needed.
Does NephroAssist integrate with my EHR?
FaxAssist is designed to prepare verified data for manual entry into your EHR—it doesn't auto-populate records. This human-in-the-loop approach ensures accuracy and maintains your existing workflows. Custom EHR integrations are available for Enterprise+ customers.
What kind of support is included?
Starter plans include email support. Professional plans include priority support. Enterprise plans include dedicated onboarding and SLA guarantees. Enterprise+ includes a dedicated account manager and quarterly business reviews.
Do you provide training for my staff?
Yes. All plans include onboarding documentation and video tutorials. Professional and Enterprise plans include live training sessions. Enterprise+ includes comprehensive white-glove onboarding with ongoing training.
What if I need help uploading practice-specific content?
Our team can help you organize and upload your SOPs, policies, and other practice content to Staff Assist. Enterprise plans include content migration assistance as part of onboarding.
